Frequently Asked Questions

Music

Why can’t I edit my Apple Music song as a separate layer?

Apple Music streaming songs are copy-protected, so BopVid can play them while you record but can’t read them. They’re captured in your video’s original sound. Songs you’ve bought or synced to your iPhone become a clean, separate layer you can edit.

A song won’t play or can’t be added.

Make sure it’s downloaded to your iPhone, not only in iCloud. In the Music app, tap the download button on the song, then try again.

The song is echoing in my video.

When music plays through the speaker, the mic hears it too. Turn on Echo Cancel (waveform-and-mic button in settings) or wear headphones. In the editor, you can also lower Original in the Audio tool.

The music is slightly out of sync.

Open the Audio tool and nudge Sync with the − and + buttons, or drag the music layer on the timeline. Tap the Sync value to reset it.

Recording

How do I record in landscape?

Hold your iPhone sideways before you tap record. The video keeps that shape for the whole take.

Cinematic says it isn’t supported.

Cinematic mode needs iOS 26 and an iPhone that supports Apple’s Cinematic video for apps. It records 16:9 at 30 fps. Tap a person or object to focus on them.

Can I switch cameras or pause while recording?

Yes. Flip cameras any time, and use the bottom-left button to pause and resume. The music pauses with you.

Editing and Sharing

How do I cut and reorder my video or music?

In Clips or Music, tap where you want to cut, then Split. Touch and hold a piece to drag it to a new spot.

How do I add text or stickers?

Use the Text and Stickers tools. Drag to move, pinch to resize, twist to rotate, and double-tap text to edit it.

Instagram or Facebook Stories won’t open.

Make sure the app is installed and up to date. Stories use the first 20 seconds of your video.

Where’s TikTok?

Tap TikTok and choose TikTok in the share sheet.

I closed the editor and lost my video.

Takes are only kept until you save or discard them, so always tap Save to Photos before closing.

Privacy

Does BopVid upload my videos?

No. Everything stays on your iPhone unless you share it yourself. See the Privacy Policy for details.
