Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2 Aug 2026

Overview

Pocket Billions ("the app", "we", "us") is a fake-money stock-trading simulator. It lets you practice buying and selling real, live-priced stocks with virtual cash — no real money, brokerage account, or financial transaction of any kind is ever involved. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how.

The short version: Pocket Billions doesn't have a server, doesn't ask you to create an account, and doesn't collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. Almost everything the app does happens entirely on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

Pocket Billions does not collect, and has no mechanism to collect:

    • Your name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information
    • An account, login, or password of any kind — there's nothing to sign up for
    • Your location
    • Photos, contacts, calendar, camera, or microphone access — the app never requests any of these permissions
    • Payment or financial information — there is nothing to buy in the app, and no real money ever changes hands

Information Stored On Your Device

Everything Pocket Billions needs to function is stored locally on your device, using standard iOS storage mechanisms, and is never transmitted to us (we have no server to send it to):

    • Your simulated portfolio. Positions, trade history, pending orders, and account settings (starting balance, Automation Mode preferences, currency, appearance) are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device and is not visible to us in any form.
    • Your market-data API key. To fetch live stock quotes, Pocket Billions uses a free API key you obtain yourself from Tiingo (see "Third-Party Services" below) and enter in Settings. That key is stored in your device's iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted, sandboxed credential store — the same mechanism apps use to store passwords. We never see this key, and it never passes through any server of ours.
    • App preferences. Small settings like your chosen display currency, light/dark mode preference, and cached market-data timestamps are stored using iOS's standard UserDefaults mechanism, locally on your device only.

Uninstalling the app deletes all of the above. Settings also includes a manual "Reset Portfolio" control (wipes your simulated trades and balance) and a "Clear Cached Market Data" control, both of which act only on your local device.

Third-Party Services

Pocket Billions retrieves live and historical stock price data from Tiingo, Inc. (tiingo.com), a third-party financial data provider. When you use the app:

    • The app sends stock ticker symbols (e.g., "AAPL") to Tiingo's API to request price data, using the API key you provided.
    • No personal information about you — your name, device identifiers, location, or anything else — is included in these requests. Tiingo only receives the ticker symbols and your API key.
    • Tiingo's handling of any information collected through your use of their API (including standard technical data like IP address, which is inherent to any network request) is governed by Tiingo's own privacy policy, available at their website. We encourage you to review it, since it's outside our control.

Pocket Billions does not use any other third-party service, SDK, or API. Specifically, the app does not integrate any advertising network, analytics platform, crash-reporting service, or social login provider.

No Advertising, No Tracking, No Analytics

Pocket Billions does not display ads, does not use any advertising SDK, and does not include any analytics or tracking software. We do not track your activity within the app, across other apps, or across websites. Because the app does not engage in tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, it does not show an app-tracking permission prompt.

Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, or share any information with third parties, for the simple reason that we do not collect or receive any information from the app in the first place. There is no backend server operated by us that stores or processes your data.

Children's Privacy

Pocket Billions is a general-audience educational and entertainment app and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction) — largely because it doesn't collect personal information from anyone at all. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us using the information below so we can look into it, though as described above, the app has no mechanism for this to occur.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws like the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) to access, correct, delete, or export personal data held about you. Because Pocket Billions does not collect or store any personal data on any server we control, there is generally nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end — your simulated portfolio and API key live only on your own device, under your own control, and you can delete them at any time by using the in-app Reset/Clear controls or by uninstalling the app. If you have questions about this, contact us using the information below.

Data Security

Your API key is stored using the iOS Keychain, which encrypts data at rest and restricts access to Pocket Billions itself. Your portfolio data is stored within the app's sandboxed local storage, which iOS isolates from other apps. All network requests the app makes to Tiingo's API use HTTPS.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Disclaimer

Pocket Billions is a simulation for educational and entertainment purposes only. It does not involve real money, does not constitute a brokerage relationship, and nothing in the app is financial, investment, or trading advice. See the Terms & Conditions for full detail.
