Privacy Policy

The Digital Bubble ("we", "us", "our") built Oikosly ("the App") with privacy in mind — it's an address-lookup tool, not a data-collection product. This Privacy Policy explains what information Oikosly uses, why, and how it's handled.

1. Summary

    • Oikosly does not require you to create an account.
    • We don't run analytics, advertising, or tracking software (SDKs) in the App.
    • Saved addresses are stored only on your own device — we never receive or store them.
    • The App uses your device's location, when you allow it, purely to help you search nearby — this is never sent to us or stored by us.
    • Address searches and map data are sent to third-party services (Apple Maps and government data providers) needed to make the App work — their own privacy policies govern how they handle that data.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not operate a backend server or database for Oikosly. We do not collect, receive, or store your name, email address, saved addresses, search history, or location. There is no sign-up, login, or user profile in the App.

3. Location Data

If you grant Oikosly permission to access your device's location, it's used only to centre the map or suggest nearby results within the App itself, using Apple's CoreLocation and MapKit frameworks. This location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to, or stored by, us. You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device's Settings.

4. Saved Addresses

If you save an address in Oikosly, it's stored locally on your device (using Apple's standard on-device storage) so it's there next time you open the App. This data stays on your device — it isn't backed up to any server we operate, and we have no access to it. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it.

5. Third-Party Services

To show you information about an address, Oikosly sends the address or coordinates you search for to the following third-party services. When it does, those providers may log the request (e.g. your IP address and the query) under their own privacy practices, which we don't control:

    • Apple Maps / MapKit — for map display, address search, and geocoding.
    • Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and PSMA / Digital Atlas of Australia — for population, housing, suburb boundary, and electorate data.
    • State and territory police services (e.g. NSW BOCSAR, Victoria Crime Statistics Agency, Queensland Police, ACT Policing, SA Police, WA Police, NT Police, Tasmania Police) — for crime and safety statistics.
    • State and local government planning portals, including the NSW Planning Portal and Queensland council data — for development application information.
    • PlanningAlerts.org.au (a service of the OpenAustralia Foundation) — for development application information in VIC, ACT, SA, WA, NT, and TAS.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these providers if you have questions about how they handle data. We select these sources because they are genuine, publicly available government or public-interest datasets — we do not sell or share your search activity with any of them beyond what's needed to return a result to you.

6. Children's Privacy

Oikosly isn't directed at children, doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and is a general-purpose neighbourhood information tool suitable for a general audience.

7. Data Security

Because we don't operate servers that store your personal information, there's no central database of Oikosly user data for us to secure. Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own security features (passcode, encryption, etc.).

8. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you generally have the right to access and correct personal information an organisation holds about you. Since we don't collect or store personal information about you on our systems, there is typically nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on request — but if you believe we hold information about you, or have any privacy questions, contact us using the details below and we'll respond.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features (such as accounts or analytics) that change how data is handled. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be reflected in the App Store listing or in-app notice where appropriate.
